Digital Navigator Foundations – 2015 to 2025

Before it became a 24-lesson certification recognized across industries, the Digital Navigator Program was a lived journey – taught in classrooms, tested in real businesses, and refined through both trials and triumphs. What follows is the untold story of how this course came to life – a journey of resilience, reinvention, and real-world impact – led by the founder who built it from the ground up.

The Founder: Oscar Manduku-Habeenzu

Oscar Manduku-Habeenzu is the architect and founder of the Cabanga Digital Navigator Certification – a course that has transformed from humble beginnings into one of the most comprehensive digital strategy programs for entrepreneurs and business professionals in Africa.

He holds over 30 academic and professional credentials, including diplomas in marketing, consumer psychology, e-commerce development, journalism, business strategy, and digital marketing, along with certifications in SEO, Meta, Google Ads, Amazon e-commerce, Data Analytics, and Business Intelligence. His learning spans platforms, disciplines, and industries – making him not just a digital strategist, but a multidimensional thinker. A digital strategist, business journalist, and growth consultant with over a decade of experience, Oscar has spent his career building powerful visibility systems across media, marketplaces, and consulting spaces.

His track record includes leading the publishing of over 3,800 business articles, launching multiple web platforms, growing audiences to over 1.4 million, and executing digital strategies for brands in finance, health, e-commerce, and education in 30+ African countries, the United States, and United Kingdom.

But this course – and his story – began long before that.

The Journey That Built the Navigator

The Digital Navigator Certification wasn’t created in a boardroom. It was forged in the real trenches of entrepreneurship, consulting, and on-the-ground training. It began in 2015 as a Professional Diploma in Digital Marketing, taught to business owners in Harare, Zimbabwe. Between 2015 and 2018, it became a sought-after resource, with university interns from Zimbabwe, Zambia, and South Africa participating in training and practical implementation.

Despite its growing impact, the course faced an unexpected attack. A disgruntled participant, who failed to submit assignments, falsely accused Oscar of misconduct in a Facebook group that exposed scams – not out of truth, but to evade responsibility. Though the claim was false, the course was cancelled in Harare. Oscar, with his characteristic resolve, never fought back publicly. He chose instead to rebuild.

Rebirth and Reinvention in South Africa

In 2019, he relocated the business to South Africa and quietly revived the course, whilst enjoying a quietly and impactful digital-nomad lifestyle. It was refined and delivered through SEDA (Small Enterprise Development Agency) in the North West Province. There, over 20 business owners were trained, followed by a month-long mentorship program. The course was renamed the Cabanga Digital Marketing Course and began to grow again, company by company – from accountants to bakers, construction firms to wellness entrepreneurs.

Every version of the course built upon the last – improved, sharpened, and aligned with real business needs. Over time, it matured into a 24-lesson curriculum that blends brand visibility, digital operations, customer journey mapping, SEO, and platform mastery.

A Course Forged by Experience

Oscar’s qualifications are as diverse and deep as the course itself. With over 20 academic and professional certifications – including credentials from Google, Amazon, and multiple diplomas in digital marketing, journalism, project management, and analytics – he has lived every part of what he now teaches.

He didn’t just build the curriculum. He executed it. In the trenches. For real businesses. With measurable results.

Today, the Digital Navigator Program is more than a course. It is a codified playbook – shaped by history, tested across borders, and designed by someone who did the work.
